T. J. LANE SCORES HIGHEST NATION-WIDE CONTEST

T. J. Lane, owner and proprietor of Lane’s Tourist Camp, Filling Station and Grocery just South of the city and agent for the Marathon Oils and Gasoline accompanied by Mrs. Lane and their son, Tommie, Mrs. Lane’s mother, Mrs. W. W. McKemie, all of this city and their niece, Miss Ariel McKemie of Hearne, Texas, left early Friday on a motor trip to Denver, Colorado Springs and other points in “Cool Colorado.” They will be gone about two weeks.
Just before his departure, this newspaperman learned that Mr. Lane had won first prize offered in our Marathon Motor Oil Sales Contest, extending from April 1, to June 30.
The contest was nation-wide in its scope and Mr. Lane’s host of friends here and throughout the county will be glad to learn that in the lubrication oil contest he scored highest in the state as well as scoring highest throughout the nation. Each agent for Marathon products was given a quota to sell in that three-month period, the prize going to the agent selling the greatest quantity of oils over his quota. Mr. Lane’s territory covers mich of Collin County and his friends will be pleased to learn of this recognition coming to him, together with a nice monetary gift for winning first prize.
In a letter from J. C. McCoy, manager Texas Sales Division of Marathon products to Mr. Lane, he said in part: “Congratulations; you were successful in our Marathon Motor Oil Sales contest, ending June 30. I congratulate you for several reasons. First, you best some of the best Marathon distributors in the entire United States; second, I know that you earned this prize, as it was necessary for you to put forth some real sales strategy in order to win.
“I certainly appreciate your efforts and sincerely trust that you will keep up the good work of continuing to distribute Marathon. –Best in the Long Run.”
